Top tips for a sober night out

From a sometimes sober girlie who loves a party.
I am by no means 'sober' and really I don't think I ever will be. The truth is I love a drink. Posh wine with dinner, glasses of champagne to celebrate or cocktails with friends, I have never been one to shy away from a tipple.
However, much like many other kids in the UK I have been drinking since long before I was 18 (sorry mum and dad) so by the time I'd got to uni I was over the whole out every night and downing jäger bombs at three in the morning.
Don't get me wrong, I've not sworn off the booze and still love a drink and a night out with friends, but I am comfortable enough now to go out and not drink anything alcoholic at all.
So, having been on a few sober nights out now, here are my tips for anyone who fancies a change, or is sick of waking up with a sore head and no memory of the night before.

1. Drink something fun that's not booze- I always opt for something fizzy, nozeco is a fave, even though my friends said it tasted like sausages?? Or lemonade in a gin/wine glass always makes you feel included.
2. Don't go into it skeptical- The worst thing you can do is go into a night out thinking you're going to have a terrible time because you aren't drinking. Stay positive and just relax and have fun like you usually would and time will fly by!
3. Go out with friends that you have a good time with no matter what- good friends make the night so choose people who are supportive and
will embrace your decision to stay sober!
4. Embrace it! The best thing about staying sober is how much more you take in when your brain isn't fuzzy. Its hilarious listening to your friends tell the same drunken story four times and seeing all the people attempting to pull on the dance floor.
Overall, if you want to give a sober night out a go then go for it! I choose to sometimes not drink because I just don't feel like it and I have never had any regrets so far.
